The blend tool an underdog tool in the Illustrator arsenal. It can do many things, like build steps between two shapes for you to find the exact middle, or help add shadows to a piece of type, make patterns that you could have never built by hand. It also can be a great shortcut tool and do the work for you. Wanna find the color that’s the exact blend of two colors? Make a quick blend with 1 step, and grab that middle color.

Set up your blend options first before hitting Make.
The Specified Steps is your best friend, taking a guess at how many stops between the two items first will help you hone in on that final piece of artwork.
Keeping it "live" for as long as possible. Or at least keeping a live copy off to the side. There's no going back after you expand a blend.
